The result is that it shows the Boulder weather forecast, not Littleton: When I log in to my account, notice that in the Start Menu the active tile still shows Littleton weather:Ī click on the tile to launch the Windows weather app, however, and as it launches it updates location. To start, on the login screen I see this forecast: The result is pretty commonly that you see the wrong weather, but when you log in it changes to the right location and forecast! What happens though is that the forecast is added to the login screen before the computer has a chance to get online and figure out your current location, so instead it uses your previous location and while it’s getting the forecast, another part of Windows is identifying location. Which works great if that’s not the very first thing that the operating system does when you wake up your device, that is. This doesn’t apply to a desktop computer that stays in one place, of course, because it doesn’t move around, but if you have a laptop or tablet that includes a weather forecast, it’s probably trying to figure out your location and use that for the forecast. The file system is predictably intact and the c:\users\xxxxx\Documents folder is there and populated.You’ve found a bit of a hiccup in the Windows 10 system by noticing that the place that Windows 10 choose for the weather forecast in the login screen is often wrong. Amongst other indicators, the Documents folder has the options to "Choose OneDrive folders to sync" whereas the OneDrive folder does not. Still the Documents folder remains the folder assisgned as the OneDrive folder. I've tried changing the location by going into OneDrive settings. I've tried changing to a local sign in, and then back to a microsoft login to no avail.
If the Documents folder is being sync'd, it is populated only as far as the OneDrive folder would be.
So when ever I access the documents I receive the "Location is not available" if the Documents folder is not actually being sync'd. The OneDrive folder has apparently been assigned to the Documents folder in the Explorer. In the Explorer, the wrong folder has been assigned as the OndDrive folder, and it's causing problems. I'm servicing a laptop running windows 10.
